Mahalo, members, for exercising your power at the ballot box. Your votes ensured pro-labor candidates up and down the ballots moved forward into the general election on Nov. 5.
Mayor Rick Blangiardi handily won re-election as mayor of Honolulu City & County. Meanwhile on the Big Island, Dr. Kimo Alameda will face off against Mayor Mitch Roth in November. We will keep up the fight to ensure the Big Island elects a leader who respects the rights of public employees and treats them fairly.
Also on the Big Island, Sue Lee Loy, a long-time councilwoman, won the House District 2 seat outright by a large margin.
A Unit 13 member, Ikaika Olds, also won the House District 23 seat. With no Republican opponent in the general election, Olds was elected outright thanks to your support.
Long-time legislator and friend of labor, Scott Nishimoto, won the Honolulu City Council District V seat by a wide margin.
