Aloha Subscriber,
The City and County of Honolulu has offered HGEA a settlement for employees in Units 2, 3, 4 and 13 who filed requests for temporary hazard pay pursuant to the contract and the initial 2021 settlement agreement.
According to the offer, employees who worked for the city from March 5, 2020 to March 5, 2022 — and filed a timely THP request — would receive a payment of $15,000, subject to taxes, dues, and contributions to the Employees’ Retirement System.
The city is targeting this fall to issue payments to affected employees.
Getting to the point of resolution in this years-long dispute for hazard pay has not been easy. Our goal has always been to make sure that any settlement we bring to you is a fair and reasonable resolution for employees who put themselves, and their families, at risk. We appreciate your patience as we waged this fight on your behalf.
HGEA is NOT making a recommendation on whether you should accept or reject this settlement offer.
