We’re sick and tired of state senators denigrating hardworking state employees who happen to work a few days a week remotely. Hawaii is facing some serious problems, and teleworking employees is not one of them.
Today we called on these senators to cut it out. Our workforce — and the younger generation of workers who government needs desperately to fill its growing vacancies — expect their employer to live in 2024. But it’s clear senators want civil service employees to operate like it’s 1984.
The senate needs to get off this nonsense and accept the reality that they have a hardworking workforce that deserves better treatment. Lawmakers should stick to their jobs — surely there are more pressing issues for them to address than micromanaging the work of directors and supervisors.
