Mahalo to a local hero, Noland!

When Unit 15 Water Safety Officer Noland Keaulana heard his friend’s child, Kahiau, went missing during kayaking team practice, he jumped on a boat and searched tirelessly throughout the night. He conducted his own 100 mile search off-duty and was the first to reach the teen, pulling him aboard after nearly 12 hours of clinging to a kayak.

Kahiau is safe thanks to the heroic efforts of Noland and first responders. We’re so proud to have HGEA members like Noland serving our community.
