Mahalo law enforcement officers!
Jan. 9 was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. We would like to mahalo all law enforcement professionals for their dedicated service to ensure the safety of our community.
Deputy Sheriff Ezra Furtado has been in law enforcement for the past 31 years. The most rewarding part of this job is being able to support his community, taking away the pain while being a support for folks during some of the most difficult times in their lives. Mahalo for all that you do, Ezra!

With the 2024 election season just around the corner, the HGEA State Board of Directors made an early set of endorsements of labor-friendly candidates who deserve our support.
In House District 25, HGEA endorsed Speaker Scott Saiki for re-election. Because Saiki is likely to face a tough primary challenge in a district with shifting demographics, HGEA is coming out early in support of his candidacy.
State Rep. Scott Nishimoto expressed his intention not to seek re-election to his House District 23 seat, but rather run for county-level office. HGEA throws its support behind his candidacy for the District V seat on the Honolulu City Council.
