Feb. 11 was International Day of Women & Girls in Science.
Pioneering the first-of-its-kind program to solve Maui County’s ongoing car waste problem, Units 3 and 13 members Tess Herman, Codie Jascor, and Claire Randazzo, are three of the amazing women in science making a difference for the people and the planet.
Since 2023, the three recycling specialists have led the County of Maui’s Tow and Scrap Program, where they have helped clear unusable vehicles from polluting the land. In its first year alone, the program increased car recycling by 25%. They have since expanded the program to include Molokai and Lanai, and now collect other larger home appliances. An even more amazing part? This waste collection program is free for Maui County residents.
Mahalo ladies for all of your amazing work to help keep our planet green and our community free of harmful pollutants. We appreciate you all!
