“Finances is definitely something that weighed on me,” said Utai, who is a 2023-24 scholarship recipient. “It made me wonder if it was worth going back to school or if I was just stuck where I was at.”
Utai said getting the Kendall Scholarship has lit a fire in her to “finish what I need to do” to get ahead.
If she could give a message to the generous donors to the HGEA Scholarship fund it would be: “The money you donate matters. It’s going to people who are making a change… Getting this scholarship means even at 42 my dreams don’t end.”
