90 Years of Working for Hawaii
Started in 1934 in response to 10% pay cuts to Honolulu Board of Water Supply managerial employees, the Hawaii Government Employees Association has since grown to become the state’s largest labor union, with 37,000 members across nine bargaining units.
While the times have changed since our inception, the fight has remained the same: negotiate strong contracts that ensure government workers are treated and compensated fairly, stand up against workplace injustice, and help shape Hawaii’s political landscape for the benefit of all working families.
