As of Jan. 1, all educational officers moved up one step in their salary schedule. Those who are on the maximum step or not on an administratively assigned salary schedule will receive a 1.4% one-time lump sum payment.
The Department of Education has begun issuing new Form 5s to reflect this adjustment to your compensation.
This is the last raise included in the current contract, which provided a total increase of 14.71% over the past four years.

The current Unit 6 Collective Bargaining Agreement is set to end on June 30. Your negotiations team has been hard at work for the past six months since exchanging initial proposals with the employer for a new agreement. Both sides have met twice already. That’s huge — it’s been more than a decade since we’ve met at the table.
Here are a few key items that we’re fighting for:
- Resolving pay inversions
- Repricing
- Restructuring of salary schedules
- Establishing provisions for hazard pay
- Increasing EO protections
The negotiating parties plan to resume caucuses early this year. Stay tuned for updates.
