Aloha Subscriber,
HGEA and the state Department of Education have reached a tentative agreement on a retention payment for DOE educational officers. Ratification for this agreement will start tomorrow afternoon and close at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
To qualify for the retention payment, EOs must be employed by the department as of Dec. 2, 2024 and appointed through the educational officer appointment process. The retention sum is based off cumulative years as an appointed EO. Eligible EOs with five years or more will receive $12,000. Those with less than five years will receive $8,000. Please read the agreement for all terms and conditions.
Because individual retention sums vary, HGEA is NOT making a recommendation on whether you should approve or reject this agreement.
If ratified, the agreement is still subject to approval by the Board of Education.
